Abou El Enein: Media Industry Should Gain More Rights in Egypt

Prominent Businessman Mohamed Abou El Enein said on Wednesday that the media in Egypt should gain more rights like the rest of the world.

Addressing the 25th international scientific conference, titled "Media Industry in Light of Investment and Technological Opportunities and Challenges," Abou El Enein affirmed the importance of the media industry globally, pointing out that media industry comes after arms and chemicals industries in the world.

In the same time, the businessman and chairmanship of Cleopatra Media Group warned of the media's negative impacts which could threaten any state citing its destructive role in Egypt after 2011.

"I traveled and attended many sessions in the United Nations in addition to meeting many foreign parliamentarians at the European Parliament and the Egyptian-European Council." Abou El Enein noted. "I found that many officials have negative images about Egypt, a matter which made me asking myself about how to change such bad vision on my country."

He also stressed that the mobile nowadays is the hero in the media industry.

He further pointed out that much fabricated and false news, circulated globally, aims at destabilizing the Arab nation. He voiced his hope to witness a strong unified Arab media with new thoughts.

He talked about the need of launching Islamic media to disseminate the heavenly religion in the right way, pointing to to Al Azhar Grand Imam's meeting with Pope Francis of Vatican.

During his speech, Abou El Enein asserted importance of digital transformation in media.

He thanked President of Cairo University Mohamed Othman El Khosht, who also attended the event, for his efforts in developing Cairo University, raising its international classification.

The two-day event is being organized by Mass Communication Faculty of Cairo University at Movienpick Hotel in Media Production City.

Many media figures and professors attended the gathering.
