Egyptian parliamentarian Mohamed Abou El-Enein delivered a pointed message on the future of Euro-Mediterranean cooperation during parliamentary meetings held in Ankara, urging regional partners to move beyond rhetoric toward tangible, results-driven collaboration.

Speaking in his capacity as President of the Parliamentary Assembly Union for the Mediterranean, Abou El-Enein outlined a strategic vision centered on deeper integration, economic coordination, and strengthened political commitment between northern and southern Mediterranean states.

At the core of his address was a call for what he described as a “new charter for the future,” designed to transform long-standing dialogue into actionable frameworks. He emphasized that the region can no longer afford symbolic partnerships, advocating instead for mechanisms that deliver measurable progress on shared challenges.

Economic integration featured prominently in his remarks. Abou El-Enein stressed the importance of linking markets, enhancing investment flows, and empowering the private sector as a driver of sustainable growth. He also expressed support for initiatives led by the European Commission aimed at fostering closer economic ties across the Mediterranean basin.

Highlighting Egypt’s regional role, the PAM president described the country as a cornerstone of stability in a volatile geopolitical environment. He pointed to ongoing diplomatic efforts led by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to mediate conflicts and promote peace across the region, positioning Cairo as a key actor in maintaining security and facilitating dialogue.

In a move aimed at sustaining momentum, Abou El Enein extended an official invitation to delegates to attend the upcoming Parliamentary Assembly session, scheduled to take place in Cairo on July 3. The meeting is expected to further advance discussions on regional cooperation and reinforce institutional partnerships.
