#9YearsOfOneDirection Hashtag Trends Worldwide

It's been 9 years since English-Irish pop boy band, One Direction was formed.

The band fans, call themselves "Directioners", has been trending hashtag #9 Years Of One Direction with numerous account posts and re-tweets about the band.

The hashtag is currently ranked number one worldwide.

The band started their ascent up the pedestal of stardom after forming and finishing third in the seven-season of the British television singing competition “The X Factor” in 2010.

The group signed with Simon Cowell's record label Syco Records, at that time no one knew they would one day become one of the biggest boy band ever.

The band consisted of 5 members Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, and Louis Tomilson.

However, Zayn Malik departed from the group in 2015, which has been on a hiatus since January 2016.

The band has won almost 200 awards including seven Brit Awards, four MTV Video Music Awards, six Billboard Music Awards, seven American Music Awards (including 2014 and 2015 Artist of the Year), and 28 Teen Choice Awards.
