The Damanhur Criminal Court, held in the Itai Baroud District Court Building, headed by Chancellor Abdel-Gawad Hassan Yassin, decided on Sunday to transfer the papers of 8 defendants to the Grand Mufti of the Republic to take his legal opinion on their execution.
The defendants are accused of killing a farmer because of a quarrel that ensued between children over the "A pack of Chipsy" in the Lake Shoubrakhit Police Station in Beheira.
The incident dates back to General Gamal El-Rashidi, former security director of El-Behaira, receiving a notification from the Shubrakhit police station, that 45 year old farmer “Reda S.” arrived at the General Hospital with bleeding in the brain, bruises and abrasions on the chest, and died of his injuries after arriving at the hospital.
The son of the deceased's cousin, "Mustafa. A", charged "Kamal A" 50 years and "Jamal A." 54 years and "Sami A" 57 years in addition to 8 others all of whom resided in the Shoubrakhit Center by attacking the son of his deceased uncle, beating him with a stick and causing him injuries, which resulted in his death.
The incident occurred while he was returning from his farm after entering a conflict with neighboring land owners.
After the Public Prosecutor's permission, the Security Forces of the Department managed to arrest the suspects, who admitted to the counselor Muhammad Akram Hammouda, the director of Shubrakhit prosecution that they committed the incident which claimed the life of the victim, because the victim slapped the son of one of the suspects who took a pack of Chipsy from his son.
