8 Injured After Earthquake Strikes Japan

Eight people sustained minor injuries as a result of a 6.3 magnitude earthquake that struck late Wednesday night in southwest Japan, without triggering a tsunami warning, according to authorities on Thursday.

Authorities reported in an initial toll that all the injured had minor injuries, mostly caused by falling objects, also noting that the material damage caused by the earthquake was extremely minimal.

The earthquake's epicenter is located in a channel separating the islands of Kyushu and Shikoku, about 18 kilometers west of Awajima and at a depth of approximately 25 kilometers, according to the US Geological Survey.

Meanwhile, the Japan Meteorological Agency stated that the earthquake measured 6.4 on the Richter scale, with its epicenter located at a depth of 50 kilometers.
