Seven people have been killed in flash floods in the Indian state of Tripura after water levels in several rivers rose due to continuous rainfall for more than 48 hours.
The Indian NDTV channel reported on Tuesday that thousands of people have been affected by flash floods, noting that more rain is expected across Tripura state over the next two days, according to the Meteorological Department.
The Indian channel indicated that more than 200 rescue teams, including members of the civil defense and fire and emergency services, have been deployed to participate in search and relief operations.
In turn, the authorities have set up more than 180 camps to shelter people affected by the rains and floods across Tripura state, whose number has exceeded 5,000 people so far.
