Seven people, including three children, were killed and 12 injured after lightning struck Malda district in West Bengal state, Indian channel NDTV reported on Thursday.
The Indian channel - in its English-language publication - quoted Indian officials as saying: one person died in the city of "Old Malda", while the other six died in the "Kaliachak" area, indicating that the injured students were transferred to hospitals for treatment.
Last April, Indian officials announced that at least 14 people were killed after lightning struck five districts in the state of "West Bengal", which witnessed moderate rains.
