The German Research Centre for Geosciences reported a 6.19-magnitude earthquake in Turkey at a depth of 10 kilometers.
According to the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), the earthquake struck in Sındırgı, Balıkesir, and was recorded at 7:53 p.m. (19:53:47).
The Turkish daily Hürriyet reported that residents of Istanbul felt the tremor, and no casualties or damages have been reported so far.
Commenting on the incident via his official account on the “X” platform, Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya stated: “AFAD and all its teams immediately launched field search operations at the site of the earthquake, which was felt by residents of Istanbul and surrounding provinces. There are currently no losses, and we are closely monitoring the situation.”
