Armed assailants have taken the lives of six construction workers in the volatile southwestern region of Baluchistan, as confirmed by Pakistani police on Saturday.

According to Police Officer Hidayatullah Dashti, the attack unfolded when gunmen opened fire on a group of eight construction workers in Turbat, located nearly 377 miles (606 kilometers) south of Quetta, the provincial capital.

Miraculously, two workers managed to survive the attack and are currently receiving medical care.

These workers were engaged in a private construction project within the city, and as of now, no group has claimed responsibility for this devastating assault.

Baluchistan has grappled with a prolonged low-level insurgency for nearly two decades, spearheaded by entities like the Baluchistan Liberation Army and other separatist groups seeking independence from the central government in Islamabad.

Regrettably, Baluch separatists have frequently targeted individuals from Punjab.

Previously, workers hailing from Punjab and Sindh have borne the brunt of such attacks.
