Six people were killed and more than a hundred others were injured in an explosion at a golf ball manufacturing plant in the city of Pingtung, Taiwan, on Saturday.

According to Taiwan News, the fire initially broke out at the factory, followed by a powerful explosion. Among the casualties, three were firefighters who had rushed to the scene to tackle the blaze.

Due to highly flammable materials inside the factory, the fire rapidly spread. Fire department officials believe that gas ignited when firefighters began spraying water on the fire. The explosion resulted in the collapse of the building's structure, trapping both firefighters and workers beneath it.

Thermal imaging indicated that temperatures inside the facility exceeded 1,000 degrees Celsius. Firefighters had no choice but to continue dousing the area to cool it down before attempting to search for any remaining survivors.

This tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the community, and investigations into the exact cause of the explosion are underway.
