Turkish authorities said that a propane tank explosion in a restaurant in the city of Izmir, west of the country, killed 5 people and injured 63 others, Western media reported.
Surveillance cameras recorded the explosion, which destroyed the street and caused minor damage to surrounding buildings.
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced on social media that dozens of rescuers were immediately sent to the scene.
Izmir Governor Suleiman Alban visited the wounded in the hospital.
The authorities arrested one of those suspected of involvement in the incident.
