Here Are 46th Egyptian Film Society Festival Details

The 46th Egyptian Film Society festival a unique platform known to honor exemplary work in the world of art and cinema is all set to take place in Cairo from 25th January 2020 to 1st February 2020.

The Guest

From a total of 33 films presented in 2019, 8 films have been shortlisted and the screenings of the films will be held at the Artistic Creativity Center of the Cairo Opera House.

The 8 films shortlisted include: "The Guest" directed by Hadi El-Bagoury, "The Secret Men’s Club" by Khaled Al-Halfaoui," The passage" by director Sharif Arafa, "Blue Elephant 2" directed by Marwan Hamed,"The treasure 2" by the director Sharif Arafa,"Rizk sons 2" by the director Tariq Al-Arian, "Imagination of the dead" by the director Khaled Mer’ai , and the last but certainly not the least, "When we are born" directed by Tamer Ezzat.

During the screenings, the jury, comprised of members of the association, critics and a number of specialists will deliberate together and choose the winners.

The announcements will be made on the 8th of February and prizes will be distributed to the winners. The winners will be based on a number of artistic criterions, such as decoration, direction, story, scenario, and dialogue.

Enas Abdel Dayem

Dr. Enas Abdel Dayem is keen to take care of this festival because it is one of the oldest festivals supported by the Egyptian Ministry of Culture.Egyptian film festival is an attempt to preserve and highlight the domestic talent  and give due recognition to legends that have given their blood and sweat to the industry.

Last year the late Youssef Cherif Rizkallah was honored at the festival to applaud his services to the film fraternity.

Dawood Abdel Sayed

This year artists who have left an eternal imprint in the annals of cinematic history and will be honored these include: Ali Al-Kassar, Tawfiq Al-Dakan, the scriptwriter, the author Abu Al-Saud Al-Abyari and the director Mamdouh Shoukry, the owner of the first political movie in the Egyptian cinema.

Alongside these contemporary artists like director Dawood Abdel Sayed, the scriptwriter, Wahid Hamed, the musician Mounir Al Wassimi, the artist Lotfy Labib, the interior designer Nihad Bahgat and the critic Salah Hashem will also be honored during the festival.

Samiha Ayoub

Samiha Ayoub is set to be the guest of honor of this session of the festival, because of her lengthy career, spanning over 60 years filled with theatrical, cinematic and dramatic works.

The Egyptian Film festival is known to be transparent and unbiased association committed to rewarding excellence and merit as assured by the president of the festival Mahmoud Abdel Samie, a true film enthusiast is highly committed to cinematic excellence.

He has filmed nearly 200 documentary films since 1966 until now, expressing social and environmental issues, historical events, and films about personalities and artists in various fields and films from Egyptian civilization of all ages.
