More than 4,000 individuals have been evacuated from border areas near Russia in the Kharkiv region of northeastern Ukraine, confirmed by the regional governor on Sunday following a surprise ground assault by Moscow initiated last Friday.
Oleg Synegubov, the regional governor, stated via social media platforms that a total of 4,073 people have been relocated. This evacuation comes in the wake of Russian forces declaring control over five villages in the region, as reported by Agence France-Presse (AFP).
The sudden escalation has prompted swift evacuation measures to ensure the safety of residents in the affected areas, highlighting the ongoing tension and conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
