4 Afghan Security Force Members Killed in Taliban Attack

Afghan media announced Friday that 4 members of the security forces were killed in a terrorist attack by the Taliban in Herāt, western Afghanistan.

“A group of Taliban fighters attacked security checkpoints, triggering a gun battle and as a result four security force members including district police chief Naqibullah Sultanzoi were killed,” Mohammad Sardar Bahaduri, member of Herat Provincial Council said in a statement.

Bahaduri added that another four security force members were wounded.

Herat security officials have not commented on the attack yet.

At least 6 Taliban militants were killed and 4 others were wounded on Wednesday, during a military operation in Baghlan province in northern Afghanistan.

The Afghan authorities reported last Monday that about 38 Taliban militants were killed in the southern Afghan province of Kandahar.

In a statement, the Afghan Ministry of Defense said that the forces targeted 38 Taliban fighters in Arghandab and Zahari in Kandahar province. they were planning to launch attacks on the National Security and Defense Forces.

During the clashes, Afghan forces destroyed 3 Taliban strongholds and a large number of their weapons and ammunition.
