Dr. Hisham Abu Zeid, Deputy Governor of Luxor, attended the launch of the 32nd Egypt International Marathon on Friday.
The event began at the historic Hatshepsut Temple in the West Bank of Luxor and was held under the patronage of Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, and Engineer Abdel Muttalib Amara, Governor of Luxor.
The marathon was also attended by Major General Jaser Riyad, the founder of the Egypt International Marathon, and Noubi Mohamed Haggagy, Deputy Head of the Qurna Center.
The Egypt International Marathon is celebrated as the oldest marathon in Africa and the Middle East, attracting participants from various Arab and international countries.
This year’s event highlighted the rich cultural and historical backdrop of Luxor, offering runners a unique experience alongside its ancient landmarks.
The marathon continues to serve as a symbol of unity and cultural exchange, promoting sports tourism in Egypt and showcasing Luxor’s timeless beauty to the world.
