Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled el Anani accompanied by Minister of Civil Aviation Mohamed Manar, Minister of Environment Yassmin Fouad, State Minister of Information Osama Heikal toured on Thursday Sharm El Sheikh International Airport in the presence of 30 foreign ambassadors.

The visit aims to reinforce and follow up the measures taken by the Egyptian ministries to revive the movement of tourist destinations in Egypt, with the aim of boosting the national economy and adhering to Egypt's vision 2030 for comprehensive sustainable development.

During the tour, the Egyptian ministers briefed the diplomats on the precautionary health measures applied at the airport to counter the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Officials inspected arrival and departure halls, thermal camera systems, security checks, passport control, as well as measures to secure social distancing and maintain hygiene in all airport facilities.

It is noteworthy that the Ministries of Tourism & Antiquities and Civil Aviation cooperate in all initiatives that would contribute to encouraging the tourist movement in Egypt.

The Ministry of Aviation is set to provide discounts to all Egyptian and foreign airlines at the airports of the Red Sea, South Sinai and Marsa Matrouh, amounting to about 50% on landing and accommodation fees and 20% on ground services, facilities and services provided at the airports.

Meantime, the Egyptian state provides all means of support for the tourism, antiquities and aviation sectors, as they are important pillars of economic development, in addition to the state's efforts to restore the gradual return of air traffic.
