Egypt is a country unique in the variety of its natural resources. Mountain ranges in the eastern desert, sandy beaches washed by the waves of the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea, manifesting bays among the hills, endless expanses of golden dunes, emerald oases – Simply put, nature shows its entire splendor in this North African spot.

Egypt, which lies in the Mediterranean zone, features of the relief and the influence of the  Mediterranean Sea bring variability to the country’s climate. In its natural reserves, the summer season may be hot but comfortable, while winters are warm and mild.

A variety of destinations take the top spot for Egypt’s popular destinations for nature tourism. Sada Elbald English (SEE) breaks down the top three world-class destinations for Ecotourism and why visitors choose them.

Aswan Botanical Gardens

Aswan Botanical Gardens is the world’s largest collection of living plants. Its lush gardens feature beautiful palms and rare plants from the Far East, India, and parts of Africa. Covering 6.8 hectares, the flush gardens are filled with birds as well as numerous species of flora.

Literally, it is a lovely place to visit. Its rare collection includes a wide selection of the plants found in one of the most bioperse countries on the earth, with a major highlight being the orchid house, which contains a good range of several thousand varieties. In addition to spectacular bromeliads, fuchsias, and African fruit trees; there are many butterflies and birds to be seen, including many hummingbird species.

Ras Muhamed National Park

Ras Muhamed is a national park in Egypt at the southern extreme of the Sinai Peninsula, overlooking the Gulf of Suez on the west and the Gulf of Aqaba to the east. It features the valleys of picturesque rivers, eternal dunes, and small Tuareg villages showing some of the many persity of the desert.

Nearly, the majority of current residents of Ras Muhamed are Bedouin groups who are originally nomads, herding their goats and sheep around the desert, moving frequently and setting up temporary settlements as they went.

While some of them continue to maintain a traditional nomadic lifestyle, the majority now live somewhat permanently in Bedouin Village – the only settlement in the protected area – and are heavily involved in the area’s tourism industry. Many elements of Bedouin life remain ubiquitous in Sinai, allowing visitors to enjoy an authentic cultural experience during their visit.

Faiyum Oasis

One of the largest valleys on the continent, covering a grand total of over  1759 square miles, Wadi El Rayan is Egypt’s pride and joy. Perfect for adventure activities like hunting, hiking, and wildlife safaris, the valley is a nature lover’s heaven. Home to such wild animals as foxes, slender-horned gazelle, ducks, and migratory birds, as well as myriad different bird species (Flamingos, grey herons, spoonbills), the valley seems like something out of a beloved wildlife book.

Travelers can book trips for as long as they are comfortable with, including facilities inside the natural reserve for those who would like to stay overnight.
