At least 25 people have been confirmed dead in terrorist attacks on four military bases in central Somalia today, Saturday.
Abukar Mohamed Hassan, a spokesperson for the Somali army, stated that the extremist group Al-Shabaab carried out "multiple-pronged attacks" in the El-Dheer district with the assistance of suicide bombings.
"Our national armed forces and local militias fought fiercely to prevent the militants from taking control of the area, resulting in the death of over 20 terrorists," he added.
He further mentioned that at least two Somali soldiers and three local militia members, who fight alongside the army, were killed in today's attack.
The Al-Shabaab militant group, affiliated with the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda, has suffered significant defeats at the hands of the Somali army in recent months.
