The draw ceremony for the 2026 FIFA World Cup will take place on December 5 at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., US President Donald Trump announced on Friday.

Sitting in the Oval Office alongside FIFA President Gianni Infantino, Trump held the World Cup trophy while wearing a red cap that read “Trump was right about everything.” He described the upcoming tournament as “likely to be the biggest sporting event ever.”

The 2026 World Cup will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and will feature an expanded format of 48 teams.

The teams will be divided into 12 groups of four, with the top two from each group, along with the eight best third-placed sides, advancing to the newly introduced Round of 32.

The tournament will kick off on June 11, 2026, at Mexico City’s historic Estadio Azteca, while the final is scheduled for July 19, 2026, at MetLife Stadium in New York.

In total, 16 stadiums will host matches: 11 in the United States, three in Mexico, and two in Canada.
