U.S. President Donald Trump is set to attend the 2026 FIFA World Cup final between Argentina and Spain on Sunday at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, where he will present the World Cup trophy to the tournament's champions after the match.

Trump confirmed his attendance during a FIFA reception alongside FIFA President Gianni Infantino in New York, describing the tournament as a major success for the United States and praising its global impact.

"It turned out we were a soccer country, and I think it's going to remain," Trump said. "This has really brought the world together."

The appearance will place Trump at the center of the closing ceremony of the biggest World Cup in history, with the U.S. president scheduled to hand the iconic trophy to either defending champions Argentina or European champions Spain following the final whistle.

Trump's participation comes after the United States played a central role in co-hosting the expanded 48-team tournament alongside Canada and Mexico, with the White House working closely with FIFA throughout the competition.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has repeatedly praised the cooperation between the governing body and the U.S. administration during the tournament, describing the World Cup as a celebration that united fans from across the globe.

The 2026 World Cup final is expected to attract a global audience of hundreds of millions, with the trophy presentation by the U.S. president set to conclude the month-long tournament after one of the largest sporting events ever staged in North America.
