Inter Milan returned to the top of the Serie A standings after securing a commanding 3–1 victory over Bologna on Sunday night at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium, in Matchday 18 of the Italian league.
The Nerazzurri took control of the match late in the first half when Piotr Zieliński opened the scoring in the 39th minute, giving the hosts a deserved 1–0 lead at the break after a strong display.
Inter wasted little time extending their advantage after halftime.
Captain Lautaro Martínez doubled the lead in the 48th minute, capitalizing on Inter’s dominance, before Marcus Thuram added a third goal in the 74th minute to effectively put the game beyond Bologna’s reach.
Bologna managed a late consolation goal through Santiago Castro in the 83rd minute, but it did little to change the outcome as Inter comfortably saw out the match to claim all three points.
With this victory, Inter Milan moved to the top of the Serie A table with 39 points, holding a one-point advantage over city rivals AC Milan in second place.
Bologna, meanwhile, remain seventh with 26 points.
