2025 FIFA Club World Cup: Day 5 Highlights and Results

Day 5 of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup kicked off with four action-packed Group G and H matches, delivering goals, controversy, and weather-related drama.

Manchester City 2–0 Wydad AC

Group G – Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia

City stunned Wydad early when Phil Foden netted in the 2nd minute following slick interplay with Julián Álvarez.

Jeremy Doku doubled the score just before halftime, smashing in after cutting inside from the left.

The match was briefly paused when a fan invaded the pitch, and tensions rose as Wydad supporters lit flares. 

City’s evening took a sour turn when Rico Lewis was sent off in the 88th minute following his second yellow card. Despite that, City’s dominance remained clear.

Real Madrid 1–1 Al Hilal

Group H – Hard Rock Stadium, Miami

In a dramatic clash, Real Madrid opened the scoring in the 34th minute through Gonzalo García, converted from a Rodrygo-led counterattack.

Al Hilal drew level soon after when Rúben Neves calmly dispatched a penalty in the 41st minute. The match intensified late on when Federico Valverde had a stoppage-time penalty narrowly saved by Yassine Bounou, ending the match 1–1.

Red Bull Salzburg 2–1 Pachuca

Group H – TQL Stadium, Cincinnati

This match resumed after being halted in the 54th minute by a severe lightning storm, with the score level at 1–1. 

Salzburg goalkeeper Dragomir Černić made several key saves early upon resumption. In the 82nd minute, Luka Sučić surged through Pachuca’s defence and set up Karim Konaté for the winner—beautifully finished to secure Salzburg’s victory.

Al Ain 0–5 Juventus

Group G – Audi Field, Washington, D.C.

Juventus burst into the tournament with a statement, dismantling Al Ain in a display of comprehensive dominance. Randal Kolo Muani opened the scoring with an 11th-minute header and struck again in first-half stoppage time. 

Kenan Yildiz added a stunner in the 31st minute, and Francisco Conceição finished both halves superbly, completing a memorable performance. Young captain Weston McKennie impressed throughout alongside American teammates Timothy Weah and Douglas Luiz, who came off the bench to help control the game. 

Despite Juventus easing off late, Al Ain couldn’t break their defence.

Tge game witnessed the Al Ain debut of foremer Al Ahly star Ramy Rabia.
