Spanish star Lamine Yamal of FC Barcelona has won the Kopa Trophy for Best Young Player in the World (U21) at the 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony, currently taking place in Paris and organized by France Football.
This marks the second consecutive year that Yamal claims the prestigious award, having also won it in 2024 after leading Spain’s U21 national team to victory in the UEFA European Under-21 Championship.
The shortlist for the 2025 Kopa Trophy featured a host of rising talents: Ayoub Bouaddi (Lille), Pau Cubarsí (Barcelona), Désiré Doué (Paris Saint-Germain), Estevão (Palmeiras/Chelsea), Dean Huijsen (Bournemouth/Real Madrid), Myles Lewis-Skelly (Arsenal), Rodrigo Mora (Porto), João Neves (Paris Saint-Germain), and Kenan Yildiz (Juventus).
The Kopa Trophy, first awarded in 2018, was won by Kylian Mbappé in its inaugural edition following his brilliant performances at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, where he helped lead France to the title.
