Morocco claimed a crucial 1–0 victory over Saudi Arabia in a high-stakes clash on Monday evening at Lusail Stadium, securing top spot in Group B of the 2025 Arab Cup currently taking place in Qatar.
Karim El Barkawi scored the decisive goal in the 11th minute, finishing off a fast, intense start to the match that lived up to its billing as one of the tournament’s most anticipated encounters.
Despite strong efforts from the Saudi team, Morocco maintained their advantage through disciplined defending and effective game management.
The win places Morocco at the top of Group B with 7 points, after two victories and one draw. The Atlas Lions ended the group stage unbeaten, scoring four goals and conceding just one.
Saudi Arabia finished in second place with 6 points, earned through two wins and one defeat. The Green Falcons scored five goals and conceded three across their three matches.
Oman placed third with 4 points, while Comoros finished bottom of the group with 0 points, scoring three goals and conceding eight.
With this result, both Morocco and Saudi Arabia secure their spots in the quarter-finals of the Arab Cup 2025, while Oman and Comoros exit the tournament.
