The African football fans around the world are eagerly anticipating the opening ceremony of the 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025.

The tournament will be hosted by Morocco from December 21 to January 18.

The opening ceremony, scheduled for today, is expected to be a spectacular artistic showcase combining visual grandeur with deep cultural expression.

Organizers have focused on presenting a performance that reflects the richness and diversity of Moroccan identity, rooted in Amazigh, Arab, and African heritage, while also highlighting the Kingdom’s modern presence on the global stage.

Cutting-edge audio-visual technology will be used alongside musical and artistic performances celebrating African unity and the tournament’s long-standing history.

According to Moroccan outlet Sport 7, the opening ceremony will last approximately 30 minutes and will serve as a comprehensive celebration of Morocco’s historical and cultural legacy.

Various artistic segments will portray the country’s deep-rooted ties to the African continent throughout history, blending authentic Moroccan traditions with modern visual effects in a creative presentation that reflects a forward-looking nation without compromising its cultural authenticity.

The official opening ceremony will feature a lineup of prominent international and regional artists, including French Montana, Davido, Douaa Lhyaoui, Saïz, and Lartiste.

The 35th edition of AFCON carries special significance, not only because it is being held on Moroccan soil, but also for its potential to strengthen ties among African nations through sport and to highlight football as a tool for cultural and human connection.

The opening ceremony is also expected to include symbolic segments honoring the history of the tournament, its past champions, and its evolution over the decades.
