The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations has achieved historic success on both the commercial and economic levels, generating record revenues of more than two hundred and twenty million dollars, according to media reports highlighting the tournament’s unprecedented growth.

The competition has evolved from a continental sporting event into a global investment platform attracting sponsors, broadcasters and international partners in a commercial transformation led by the Confederation of African Football.

One of the most notable achievements of the 2025 edition was the dramatic expansion in the number of official sponsors.

The tournament featured twenty-three sponsors compared to just nine sponsors in the 2021 edition, marking an increase of between seventy and eighty per cent.

This growth reflects a major rise in the marketing value of the tournament and its ability to attract leading global brands.

For the first time in the history of continental football competitions, CAF signed a strategic partnership with a major global company allowing the Africa Cup of Nations to be integrated into some of the world’s most popular video games.

Fans are now able to play the AFCON tournament on PlayStation and other gaming platforms, with the participation of all official sponsors opening new opportunities in digital marketing and youth engagement worldwide.

The tournament also witnessed a historic agreement with the European Union, which became a sponsor of an African football competition for the first time.

In addition, global companies from Japan and three major corporations from China, as well as sponsors from Germany, France, the United States, Russia and Turkey, joined the tournament alongside partners from Morocco and Ivory Coast.

This unprecedented geographic expansion highlights the growing international confidence in African football and its commercial products.

In terms of television broadcasting, the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations recorded a major leap in global media exposure.
