Morocco booked their place in the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations after securing a 2–0 victory over Cameroon in the quarter-final match played at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex on Friday night.
The Atlas Lions took the lead in the first half through Brahim Díaz, who opened the scoring in the 26th minute with a composed finish.
Morocco maintained control of the match and doubled their advantage in the second half when Ismael Saibari scored in the 74th minute to seal the win.
With the victory, Morocco advance to the semi-finals, where they will face the winner of Saturday’s quarter-final between Nigeria and Algeria.
Playing in front of a home crowd, Morocco entered the match with strong ambitions to continue their continental campaign.
They had reached the quarter-finals after a narrow 1–0 victory over Tanzania in the round of 16, also scored by Díaz.
Cameroon, meanwhile, arrived with confidence after defeating South Africa 2–1, underlining their reputation as one of Africa’s most experienced tournament sides.
