Mali secured qualification to the round of 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 after a goalless draw against Comoros on Monday night at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca.
The match was played as part of the third and final round of Group A in the continental tournament being hosted by Morocco.
The encounter was largely balanced, with both sides struggling to create clear scoring opportunities throughout the 90 minutes.
Neither team managed to find the breakthrough, and the game ended without goals in a result that ultimately favored Mali.
Late drama unfolded in the 88th minute when Mali midfielder Amadou Haidara was shown a red card following a review by the video assistant referee.
Despite finishing the match with ten men, Mali held on to secure the point they needed to advance.
Morocco topped the group with seven points, while Mali finished second with three points after recording three draws. Zambia ended the group stage in third place with two points, and Comoros finished bottom with one point.
As a result, Morocco and Mali progressed to the knockout stages, while Zambia and Comoros were eliminated from the competition without recording a victory.
