Angola and Zimbabwe played out a 1–1 draw on Friday in the second round of the group stage of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, currently being held in Morocco.
Angola opened the scoring through Gelson Dala in the 23rd minute after a brilliant pass from Augusto Carneiro split the Zimbabwe defense.
Dala finished the move with a first-time right-footed shot that found the narrow angle to the right of Zimbabwe goalkeeper Washington Arubi.
Zimbabwe responded just before halftime, leveling the score in the closing moments of the first half through Knowledge Musona, ensuring the teams went into the break on equal terms.
The draw for AFCON 2025 placed Angola and Zimbabwe in Group B alongside Egypt and South Africa.
The match was described as a “clash of the wounded,” as Angola had lost 2–1 to South Africa in the opening round, while Zimbabwe were beaten by the same scoreline against Egypt.
