Morocco international Achraf Hakimi made a welcome return to action on Monday night after recovering from injury, featuring in his national team’s match against Zambia at the Africa Cup of Nations 2025.
His comeback provided a timely boost for the Atlas Lions as they prepare for the knockout stages of the tournament.
Hakimi’s participation was particularly significant given his key role in the Moroccan squad, where he contributes both defensively and offensively.

Morocco capped a dominant group stage performance with a convincing 3 to 0 victory over Zambia at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, in the final round of Group A matches.
Ayoub El Kaabi scored twice, while Brahim Diaz added the third goal, with the strikes coming in the ninth, 27th and 50th minutes.
The win confirmed Morocco’s qualification for the round of 16 as group leaders, securing their place in the knockout phase of the tournament they are hosting.
The Atlas Lions finished top of the group with seven points from two wins and one draw, scoring six goals and conceding just once.
