On Wednesday, Morocco's Soufiane El Bakkali won the 3000 meters steeplechase gold medal to be the first male athlete to win back-to-back 3,000m steeplechase gold medals at the Olympic Games since 1932.
El Bakkali won the race and finished in a time of eight minutes, followed by USA's Kenneth Rooks, and Kenya’s Abraham Kibiwot.
This was his second Olympic gold. He claimed his first win in the Tokyo Games.
El Bakkali shared the achievement of Morocco's athletes winning two gold medals after Hicham El Guerrouj, who won 1500m and 5,000m gold in Athens 2004.
