Moments ago, Egypt sealed their spot in the semi-finals of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games after defeating Paraguay 5-4 by penalties, after having a 1-1 draw in the full time, and extra time.
It is the first time for the Egyptian team to reach the semi-final of the Olympic games in more than 60 years.
Paraguay opened the scoring in the game in the second half by Diego Gómez who executed a fine finish low into the net.
Before the end of the game with two minutes, Ibrahim Adel saved the Egyptian team, and scored a late equalizer to keep the Africans hope alive in the tournament.
During the extra time, the Egyptians kept the fight for the semi-final spot, especially through the efforts of the goalkeeper Hamza Alaa who saved the nets of the Egyptians. He also managed to prevent one of the penalty shots of Paraguay's team.
The Egyptians will face the winners of the French-Argentinian contest.
