US Sophia put her team ahead before the end of the first half and braced her team at the beginning of their third successive title defense.
The top-ranked Americans started to trust their promising talents including the 22-year-old forward, who also made a successful assist for co-captain Lindsey Horan in the second half.
On the other hand, it wasn't the hoped start for Vietnam who couldn't reach the final third for the Americans.
Vietnam's goalkeeper Tran Thi Kim Thanh managed to save Alex Morgan’s first-half penalty which was one of the best chances for the Americans.
