On Tuesday, the semi-finals of the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup were initiated by an epic battle between Sweden, who dream of capturing the gold, especially after eliminating the USA, and Japan, and the ambitious Spain, who dream of recalling the glory of 2010 when the Spanish men won the FIFA World Cup.

The game was tough and competitive. Both teams tried to hit the nets of each other but failed.

It was one of the rare times to see a team force Sweden to change their rules in the field and try to adapt to the game-changers.

Spain that full of young and promising stars shocked the Swedish at 81:00, after Salma Paralluelo, the 19-year-old winger, came from the bench to the field as a substitute and scored the first goal for Spain.

Seven minutes later, Sweden returned to the game as striker Rebecka Blomqvist notched the equalizer for her team.

With stoppage time and seconds away from the 2-half extra time, Spain's Olga Carmona delivered the game-winning goal in the 89th minute.

She took a short corner pass from outside the box and hit it to the nets. It hit the crossbar, before moving inside.

The game ended 2-1 for Spain over Sweden, who will now wait for the losser of the England-Australia game to face them for the third place.

La Roja, who reached the semi-finals for the first time in history in this edition of the WWC, is fixing their eyes on gold to get a victory to their country whose men were eliminated from FIFA World Cup in the first knockout game.
