Japan stunned Costa Rica 2-0 at the opening game of the group stage's second round of Group C at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup at Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin, New Zealand.
Japan scored two goals in two minutes, from Hikaru Naomoto and 19-year-old Aoba Fujino, to give the Asian team the lead in the first half.
At halftime, Japan lead Costa Rica with 2-0 as after seeing Naomoto and Fujino score in a space of two minutes for the brilliant lead.

Japan continued their momentum victory, last week, as they thrashed the nets of Zambia 5-0.
Now, Japan is a step closer to advancing to the knockout stage (the Round of last 16).
The team was led by captain Saki Kumagai and star midfielders Hina Sugita and Yui Hasegawa.

On the other hand, Costa Rica tried to bounce back however they failed.
Costa Rica are now in a bad position as they received the second successive loss as they were defeated 3-0 by Spain.
