Australia, the Matildas, managed to qualify for the Semi-Final of the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup for the first time in their history.

The Matildas advanced to the final four after defeating France in an epic game. The game ended 7-6 by Penalties after a goalless full-time and extra-time game.

Courtney Vine emerged as the match-winner after her penalty that carried the Matildas into the semi-finals.

France, who dominated the majority of the match, missed an early opportunity when Maelle Lakrar failed to convert the easy chance.

The scenario of missed chances continued until the end of the extra time.

After the match, Australia's coach, Tony Gustavsson, celebrated, saying: “The bravery and the heart this team showed is unbelievable."

Australia will now advance to face England in Sydney.
