According to media agencies reported on Saturday, two people were killed in a shooting in Harlem neighborhood, including a policeman and a suspect and it left one injured in a critical condition.

Reports also added that the victims were police officer Jason Rivera, 22, and the suspect, 47, who was called Lawshen McNeil.

The New York Police Department commissioner, Keechant L. Sewell said: “Tonight, a son, husband, officer, and friend was killed because he did what we asked him to do,” asserting: “We’re mourning and we’re angry.”

Early this year, the city saw several violent attacks.

Last week, a police officer and an armed suspect were injured during a confrontation between them in the Belmont area, Bronx, New York City, on Tuesday.

According to authorities, the wounded officer caught a teen with a gun in Lorillard Place in the Belmont area, and both parties were escalated until the gun was off and the officer and the suspect teen were injured.

Both were transported to St. Barnabas Hospital to be treated. In addition, the wounds were not life-threatening.
