2 Killed, 7 Injured in Chicago's Mass Shooting

Two killed and seven injured in a fatal mass shooting took place near 800 Block of North State Street area in Chicago, CBS reported on Friday.

According to police, the two killed persons were both men, on the other hand, five victims who were wounded by gunshots were transported to nearby hospitals, and three of them are in a serious condition.

Chicago's Mayor Lori Lightfoot issued a statement on Friday morning, saying: "An outrageous act of violence was committed last night in the area of Chicago and State. I have been in frequent contact throughout the early morning hours with Superintendent Brown and his team, as well as President Carter of the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), and I will continue to monitor developments throughout the day."

He added: "I have also engaged the Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection to determine what if any additional measures need to be taken to address long-standing concerns along that block. That work has already begun."

Finally, Lightfoot concluded that he asked the Chicago Police Department (CPD) and CTA to keep working in investigating, and monitoring the streets.

Later on, police announced that a suspect was drove into custody after the incident.
