A tragic fuel tanker explosion in Enugu State, southeastern Nigeria, has claimed the lives of 18 people, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

This incident occurred just a week after a similar explosion in northern Nigeria that resulted in the deaths of nearly 100 individuals.

In a statement released late on Saturday, the FRSC spokesperson explained that a brake failure on the tanker caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, leading to a collision with more than ten other vehicles on a major highway.

The explosion left ten people with varying degrees of injuries, while three others were fortunate enough to escape without harm.

Sadly, the explosion was so intense that the 18 victims were burned beyond recognition, making identification impossible.
