Colombia announced on Saturday the death of 18 people and the injury of 35 others due to a mountain collapse in the western part of the country.
The Colombian National Unit for Disaster Risk Management stated that the collapse destroyed a mountain road linking two cities yesterday, adding that search operations will be launched to find those buried under the rubble, as reported by the American network ABC.
Social media users shared a video showing a section of the mountain collapsing onto the crowded road, while authorities have not yet announced the possible cause behind the landslide.
President Gustavo Petro pledged that his government would provide all necessary support in the face of this tragedy.
