The authorities in Guatemala announced today, Tuesday, that 15 people were killed and 22 others injured as a result of landslides due to torrential rains.
The France 24 news channel quoted the authorities as saying that the victims include a woman and her six children, in addition to three others.
The authorities said that heavy rains accompanied by strong winds caused landslides, floods and collapses in infrastructure and facilities in many parts of the Central American country.
In China, More than 1.1 million residents in east Jiangxi Province were affected by torrential rains and floods caused by rain from May 28 to last Friday.
17 people were killed and 4 others are still missing due to the floods that hit central China’s Hunan Province while a landslide buried parts of several villages in southern Guangxi Province.
Storms have hit the county since the beginning of this month, Xinhua News Agency said, noting that 10 people were killed and three were missing in the floods that affected about 1.8 million people in the county that has a rustic mountain character.
It said 286,000 people had been evacuated and more than 2,700 homes were damaged or completely collapsed.
in Guangxi, rescue crews are still searching for survivors in several villages in Beiliu City District.
Seven people have been confirmed killed in the landslides, one is still missing and at least another has been pulled alive.
Authorities have issued warnings of continued heavy rain in Guangxi and neighboring provinces such as Jiangxi, Fujian, Guangdong, Hainan, Sichuan, Chongqing and Yunnan, Xinhua reported
