14th Alexandria International Theater Festival Named after Ahmed El Sakka

The 14th edition of the Alexandria International Theater Festival (Theatre Without Fund), headed by Ibrahim Al-Forn, will be named after Egyptian actor Ahmed El Sakka, in recognition of his rich artistic career.

The festival, one of the most significant cultural and artistic events in Alexandria, will take place from September 20-26th, under the auspices of Minister of Culture Ahmed Fouad Henno.

The Alexandria International Theatre Festival (Theatre without Fund) was Founded in 2008 by Dr. Gamal Yaqout, the festival’s honorary president, has provided a unique platform for artists to showcase their works without the constraints of traditional production, which enabled creators to present their artworks with complete freedom.

Born on March 1, 1973, El Sakka a prominent figure in contemporary Egyptian arts with a full-filling drama history, began his career line in the theaters. He is a graduate of the Higher Institute of Performing Arts.

He starred in several plays like "khodlak kaleb", "kabl an yantalk", "Afroto", "keda okay", and "Sayedaty elgamila".

Despite his immense success in cinema and television, his theatrical roots laid the foundation for his talent and developing his acting skills. He has won numerous awards and has a vast fan base across the Arab world. El Sakka is known for his roles that carry deep social and humanitarian messages.

The festival aligns with the Egyptian Ministry of Culture’s commitment to presenting artistic works that resonate with contemporary issues and encouraging youth engagement in cultural activities that foster intercultural exchange.

The festival will feature theatrical performances from various countries around the world. A distinguished panel of experts has selected performances from Egypt, Jordan, Spain, Tunisia, Italy, Algeria, Kuwait, the UAE, Brazil, Poland, Sudan, Lebanon, Syria, and France.

The event will take place in the major theaters in Alexandria.
