The 13th edition of the Alexandria International Theater Festival will kick off today, Friday, in the presence of a large number of honorees, led by the artist Ahmed Rizk.
During the opening ceremony, the theatrical show “Icarus” directed by the artist Ahmed Ezzat will be honored for winning the Best Show Award at the Cairo International Festival for Experimental Theater. The artist Khaled Raafat will also be honored for winning the Best Actor Award at the event.
The festival, which runs until September 28, is headed by the artist Ibrahim Al-Farn, the festival’s president, and the artist Islam Wassouf, the festival’s director.
The Alexandria Theater Festival was founded in 2008 by the honorary president of the festival, Dr. Gamal Yaqout.
This year, the festival bears the name of the Alexandrian star, the artist “Ahmed Rizk,” who has a great history in drama of all kinds.
Three Egyptian performances were chosen to represent the Arab Republic of Egypt in the festival this year, in addition to several performances from various Arab countries by a viewing committee of those with great artistic experience.
