10 Years Challenge - Accepted

At the begging of the year 2019, the social media all over the world went viral with what they called the 10 years challenge. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, you name it were all flooded with pictures of the 2009 look of people vs their look in 2019.

That was the case in Egypt too; the 10 years challenge was taking us all to the people we were a decade back and indeed it was a walk down memory lane.

I personally loved the concept of the challenge and had some observations which I am not sure if you had them too or was it just me.

To begin with, I have noticed how women became more beautiful and when I say that I do not mean they were ugly and turned pretty, rather I mean they took more care of themselves and their beauty came across very clearly in the sense that they have loved, accepted and embraced themselves more; they became very comfortable with their personalities.

I am thinking maybe they have matured? or is it more self-contentment? Or perhaps some fell in love or maybe even fell out of love and they got porced.

On the other hand, what on earth happened to men?! Most of them are bald with some small or relatively big bellies and they have probably not played any sports for some time. Having said that, they are as well accepting how they look like, they put pictures standing proud and just like women, they are content, proud and grounded.

Men and women equally were all self-confident and regardless if they have gained weight or lost weight, aged or have not lost their youth, all of them have a very high level of acceptance to how they evolved and developed.

Most of their pictures I came across from my network are for those who were aged twenties to thirties, or thirties to forties, all of that bunch looked good and wrinkles-free.

Its such a creative idea that people put before and after 10 years pictures and start a challenge, but if you ask me, the real challenge is not how different or the same we look now compared to 10 years back, the real challenge is how much we have changed to better ourselves than we were 10 years back.

10 years is a long time, we have all gone through a lot of challenges, loses, hardships, drama and pain, life did hit us hard and knocked us down, it took so many valuables from us and might not have given something in return .

The real challenge is to still keep our heart pure and beating with hope and love after all life’s tricks, pitfalls, defeats and disappointments.

The challenge I see in the last 10 years is to keep our heart young despite what we have faced in our journey so far.

This is the never ending challenge of the last 10 years and probably many more 10s of years to come.

I have accepted the 10 years challenge, what about you?
