A devastating suicide bombing on Tuesday night claimed the lives of ten soldiers and left seven others injured in northwest Pakistan, officials confirmed.
The attack took place in Bannu, near the Afghan border, just a day after a separate assault in the region killed eight soldiers.
According to a Pakistani intelligence official, the attack involved a vehicle loaded with explosives that was detonated near a security checkpoint in Mali Khel.
Armed assailants accompanying the bomber then opened fire, resulting in heavy casualties. The explosion caused significant damage to the checkpoint and nearby military vehicles.
The Hafiz Gul Bahadur militant group claimed responsibility for the attack. The incident highlights the escalating violence in the region, which continues to be a stronghold for militant groups.
This bombing followed a deadly clash on Monday in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, where eight soldiers and nine militants were killed in the Tirah area during intense fighting.
The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), also known as the Pakistani Taliban, claimed responsibility for that attack.
