Vietnam's Ministry of Environment announced that ten people have died and eight others are missing due to severe flooding caused by recent heavy rains in central parts of the country.
The ministry explained in a statement reported by Channel News Asia in its English-language broadcast that the floods inundated more than 128,000 homes in five provinces, with water levels reaching three meters in some areas.
Vietnam is frequently exposed to storms and floods that cause widespread damage, especially during the storm season which lasts from June to October.
