A bomb explosion in Pakistan's southwest claimed the life of one individual and left 14 others wounded on Saturday, including three soldiers, according to a police official.
The incident took place in the Hernai district, situated northeast of Quetta city in Baluchistan province.
Javed Domki, the deputy commissioner of Hernai, reported that the improvised explosive device (IED) detonated while a team from Mari Petroleum Company was engaged in a gas exploration survey. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack at the time of reporting.
Baluchistan has long been a hotspot for a subdued insurgency, with factions advocating for independence from the central government in Islamabad.
Despite official assertions of quelling the insurgency, violence persists in the province, highlighting ongoing security challenges in the region.
