In a significant move towards regional cooperation and understanding, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has expressed Egypt's full support for any agreement between Ethiopia and its neighboring countries that align with mutual interests. This statement was made during President El-Sisi's recent engagement with top officials and journalists at the 72nd Police Day celebration organized by the Ministry of Interior.

President El-Sisi emphasized Egypt's enduring commitment to achieving stability in the region and minimizing conflict escalation. This stance is particularly relevant given the complex geopolitical environment in North Africa and the Middle East, especially concerning issues like the Nile River's utilization, which involves Egypt, Sudan, and Ethiopia.

In his address, El-Sisi highlighted the adverse effects global crises have had on Egypt and the rest of the world, notably in supply chain disruptions. This acknowledgment reflects Egypt's exposure to global economic shifts and underscores the importance of regional cooperation in addressing common challenges.

The President's call for constructive agreements with Ethiopia is a clear reflection of Egypt's approach to foreign policy – one that values diplomatic engagement and seeks consensus. Given the ongoing discussions around the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), Egypt's advocacy for equitable and sustainable use of Nile River resources remains a top priority.

The GERD dispute underscores the delicate balance needed in managing the Nile's resources. Egypt relies heavily on the Nile for its water supply and has expressed concerns about the dam's impact on its water security, mirroring similar apprehensions from Sudan.
