French Media Highlights King Tut's Expo in Paris

CAIRO, March 27 (SEE) – French media means highlighted the exhibition “Tutankhamun, the Treasures of the Pharaoh” which is currently being held in France until Sept. 15.

Fifty years after “the exhibition of the century” – which had gathered more than 1.2 million visitors in 1967 in Paris – it is a unique opportunity to rediscover the history of the most famous of the Pharaohs before the permanent installation of the artifacts within the new Egyptian Grand Museum currently under construction.

Presented by the Ministry of Egyptian Antiquities at the Grande Halle de la Villette, this immersive exhibition will unveil more than 150 original objects from the tomb.

More than 50 pieces from this collection will travel for the first and last time out of Egypt.

"Come discover many personal belongings of the young sovereign who accompanied him in the two worlds that are life and death," the expo's official website said.

French TV website described the exhibition as a 3000-year-old treasure in a report published on March 20.

"Part of the treasure arrives in Paris in 1967. An ultra-secure trip, organized after three years of negotiations with the Cairo Museum," the report added.

Le Parisien described the expo as "the exhibition of the year", writing that Compared to 1967 at the Petit Palais, only the golden mask of the Pharaoh, one of the most reproduced images in the world, remained in Cairo, which never left its native land."

"For the Egyptian people, is much more than their Mona Lisa."

The exhibition was inaugurated by Egypt’s Minister of Antiquities Dr. Khaled Al-Anany and France’s Minister of Culture Franck Riester on March 21.

The officials reported that over 180,000 tickets have been sold also the exhibition is expected to achieve a great success during its stay in Paris.
