The Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square is hosting a two-day scientific symposium titled "Sinai: The Land of the Greatest Revelation" in collaboration with the Franciscan Cultural Center for Coptic Studies.

The symposium, taking place from August 21 to 22, aims to shed light on the historical and religious significance of the Sinai region.

Mustafa Waziri, the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, emphasized that the symposium's purpose is to highlight the historical and religious value of the Great Revelation area in St. Catherine's city, located in the Sinai Governorate.

This initiative aligns with Egypt's significant interest in the region, as one of the country's largest national projects, the Grand Revelation Project, is currently underway in the area known as the "Land of Peace."

Momen Osman, the Head of the Museums Sector at the Supreme Council of Antiquities, explained that the symposium includes various scientific lectures covering Sinai's history.

Among these lectures, Ali Abdel Halim, the Director-General of the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square, will present a specialized lecture on the ancient history of Sinai. Another lecture will be delivered by Father Milad Shahata, the Director of the Franciscan Cultural Center for Coptic Studies, focusing on the history of Christian pilgrimage to Sinai.

In addition to these lectures, two scientific sessions will illuminate the icons, manuscripts, and documents of St. Catherine's Monastery.

These sessions will be conducted by visual artist Ayman Fayez and archaeologist Malak Nassehi, an inspector at the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.

This symposium signifies the museum's upcoming series of temporary archaeological exhibitions centered around specific themes, underscoring its role as a cultural and societal institution.

Halim pointed out that Sinai is situated in the Asian continent and has been a part of Egyptian land since ancient times.

Sinai has held historical, religious, economic, and military importance since antiquity, harboring one of the world's oldest military routes known as the "Horus the Elder Road."
